SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA / RankWire.AI / – During its Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event in London, Samsung Electronics unveiled its eighth-generation lineup of foldable smartphones, introducing the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8. The South Korean technology giant refreshed the physical designs, enhanced camera configurations, and integrated artificial intelligence features across all three devices. The standard Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 features a new form factor with a weight of 201 grams, making it the lightest book-style foldable smartphone produced by Samsung to date. It sports a cover screen with a 10:16 aspect ratio and a main display with a 4:3 aspect ratio. These screens adapt seamlessly to various content types such as browsing, reading, or watching videos. Both displays utilize Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology, offer a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and can reach peak brightness levels of 3,000 nits under Vision Booster technology. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy and equipped with a 4,800 mAh battery.

To bolster structural resilience while trimming down device thickness, Samsung developed its exclusive Flex Titanium display framework for the premium foldables. This architecture combines a titanium-alloy film with an underlying titanium support plate designed to absorb impact forces, evenly distribute mechanical stresses, and minimize visible screen creasing over prolonged folding cycles. The hinge mechanism has been fine-tuned through recalibration of magnetic force and display panel tension to enable smoother opening movements. Additionally, outdoor visibility is enhanced by a low-reflection finish that maintains color vibrancy even under bright ambient lighting conditions.

    Enhanced Hardware and Productivity Features

The top-tier Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra expands its display area to include an 8.0-inch QXGA+ main screen paired with a 6.5-inch cover display. Designed for intensive multitasking and media creation tasks, this model incorporates a 200-megapixel primary camera sensor with High Dynamic Range support alongside a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 10-megapixel telephoto module. For professional mobile video recording needs, it supports capturing videos in 8K resolution using the APV video codec and features Cine LUT color management tools suitable for advanced editing workflows.

The device’s internal hardware includes an improved graphite cooling system engineered to better dissipate heat during demanding tasks. A dual-cell battery capacity of 5,000 mAh powers the Ultra model—supported by a fast-charging architecture delivering up to 45W through dual pathways to efficiently charge both cells simultaneously. Performance options include configurations with up to 16GB RAM and as much as 1TB onboard storage running on One UI 9 based on Android version 17.

Smart Software Features and Global Launch Plans

Alongside these larger foldables, Samsung also announced the clamshell-style Galaxy Z Flip8 which measures just 6.1 millimeters when unfolded and weighs approximately180 grams. This compact device features a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED cover screen, complemented by a larger main display measuring6.9 inches, and housesa50-megapixel primary cameraand abattery capacity of4300mAh.Samsung’s software offerings across all three models include innovative AI tools developed jointlywith Google—such as Gemini Intelligence , Now Brief ,and Now Nudge—which automate background workflows ,provide comprehensive file summaries ,and facilitate app navigation .

Availability for the Galaxy Z Fold8 series will begin immediately after pre-orders open worldwide following the Unpacked event. The devices are scheduled for retail store release on August7 ,2026 .
