The agenda centered on enhancing cooperation between the UAE and Germany in economic and developmental areas. Regional and global issues, diplomacy, peace efforts, and international security also featured in their dialogue. UAE-Germany talks in Berlin highlight expanding strategic and economic cooperation.

The two officials explored opportunities to broaden the strategic alliance and push forward collaboration across multiple sectors. Sheikh Abdullah emphasized that UAE-Germany relations are robust and adaptable, with ongoing development. He highlighted their mutual dedication to building upon past successes and fostering sustainable economic growth. Wadephul and Sheikh Abdullah shared perspectives on shared interests and diplomatic methods to resolve crises.

The broader state visit introduced a new framework to the bilateral ties. Germany’s Federal Government described it as the first state visit to Germany by a UAE president. During the visit, Sheikh Mohamed met with Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and together they announced the launch of a new Strategic Dialogue. This format encompasses security, defense, trade, investment, energy, climate, technology, digital transformation, transport, environment, culture, and education sectors.

Enhanced strategic dialogue deepens bilateral collaboration

They welcomed the renewal of the Joint Economic Committee and the results achieved during a bilateral business forum. According to the joint declaration, the visit resulted in 29 business agreements and memoranda worth over 9.356 billion euros. Additionally, a UAE investment plan involving 40 billion euros in Germany was announced.

The scope of economic collaboration also covers energy, innovative technology, and digital infrastructure. The joint declaration underscored ongoing and upcoming projects involving LNG, renewable energy, hydrogen, and energy efficiency. It also referenced plans for advanced data centers with approximately one gigawatt of capacity. Both parties identified artificial intelligence and cutting-edge technologies as key areas within their broader partnership.

Diplomacy and regional stability discussed by foreign ministers

In their Berlin talks, the foreign ministers also examined regional and international developments. They discussed intensified global efforts to promote enduring peace and stability while safeguarding international security. The conversations included diplomatic strategies to address crises, aligning with themes from the state visit. The German government had also listed Middle East peace and stability among the topics for the leaders’ meetings.

Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, UAE Minister of State, was present during the meeting between Sheikh Abdullah and Wadephul. Their discussions integrated foreign policy, economic cooperation, and development within the bilateral relationship.
