CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA / RankWire.AI / – Apple has announced the debut of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, showcasing significant upgrades in camera technology, performance, and battery life. The latest models boast a 48-megapixel Fusion Main camera with an adjustable aperture, marking a first for the iPhone series. Apple has rolled out Reference Image, an optional feature aimed at authenticating photographs. When in Reference mode, the system captures signed sensor data at the moment a photo is taken, creating a reference image that can be compared with subsequent edited versions in the Photos app. The company is also enhancing support for image metadata and the SynthID standard. Support for SynthID will be introduced through a software update later in 2026.
Camera controls expand with variable aperture
The A20 Pro chip employs a 2-nanometer manufacturing process, featuring a six-core CPU and a seven-core GPU. It also includes a Dual 16-core Neural Engine with a total of 32 cores dedicated to AI processing. Apple states that the GPU provides up to 40% faster performance compared to the A19 Pro. The redesign includes a vapor chamber with increased surface area to enhance sustained performance. Connectivity options now include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, all supported by Apple’s N1 wireless networking chip.
Battery life has also seen improvements across the iPhone 18 Pro series. Apple indicates that eSIM-only versions of the Pro models can deliver up to 36 hours of video playback, while the Pro Max can reach as high as 45 hours under the same conditions. The iPhone 18 Pro can achieve a 50% charge in approximately 15 minutes when using compatible wired chargers. Eliminating the physical SIM tray frees up additional space for batteries in eSIM-only variants, which will be available in several Middle Eastern markets.
Siri AI arrives with iOS 27
The new devices will ship with iOS 27 and will support Siri AI through Apple Intelligence. Siri AI enters beta on September 14 for compatible devices configured in English. Support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish is expected to arrive in October. The software can leverage personal context from messages, emails, and photos when handling requests. It can also respond to content displayed on the screen. Apple Intelligence employs on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute for supported cloud-based tasks.
Pricing for the iPhone 18 Pro begins at $1,199 in the United States, with the Pro Max starting at $1,299. Both models are available with storage options of 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB. The color choices include burgundy, glacier, silver, and black. In the UAE, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at AED 5,099. Preorders open on September 12, with sales commencing on September 18. An additional 20 countries and regions are scheduled to receive the devices on September 25.
